Historikal MOVE Plaque in Philly

Moorbey'z Blog

On June 24, 2017 over 150 people came out to the unveiling of a plaque 32 years after Philly police dropped a bomb on the 6200 block of Osage Ave in West Philadelphia, killing 11 MOVE members including 5 children and burning down 61 homes. Past and present students of Jubilee School worked tirelessly researching and gathering support from the neighborhood preparing for this moment to finally come! The PA Historical and Museum Commission approved a historical marker to commemorate the 1985 MOVE Bombing. The ceremony featured poetry (Sonia Sanchez!), music and speakers at the site near where the Historical Marker will be placed, at Cobbs Creek Parkway and Osage Avenue.
